Two successful Flinders University Animation Alumni, ??? and ??? will share their experience on transitioning from university to full-time work, and how they successfully navigated their way into the animation industry.

From their first jobs to the pros and cons of a life as a freelancer, then as studio creatives. Isabella and Stephanie will shed some light on their positive and negative experiences and how they navigated their creative lives since they left UTS.

Isabella Spagnolo

Director, Writer & Animator

About Isabella:

Isabella is an award-winning Sydney-based Director, Writer, Animator. She is also a proud mentor for WIA (Women in Animation empowering emerging directors in animation. She graduated from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) with Honours in Animation and has since worked for Australian studios including Flying Bark Productions, Princess Bento and Cheeky Little. She currently works for the team at the forefront of modern animation, global sensation - Glitch Productions as an Animation Lead on Dana Terrace's highly anticipated Knights of Guinevere. She is well known for creating Flying Bark's first short film, 'My Jumper, It Roars!' (2023)


 

Stephanie Formston

About Stephanie:

Stephanie is an Australian Animation Director based in Sydney. After graduating from UTS with her Honours in 2017 she went on to focus her skills in 2D animated television content, working at Cheeky Little Media from 2018-2023. During this time she worked on television series and was also able to work in development, helping the team develop trailers for upcoming pitches. Here she worked on shows such as  Kangaroo Beach, Jellystone! and Spongo, Fuzz and Jalapena.In 2023, Stephanie moved studios and was employed at Princess Bento to develop the animation style on their FOX network show, Universal Basic Guys. Here she continued to work on the series and eventually animation directed season two.  

 
 

Stephanie and her husband got married in 2022, and welcomed their son Barney in April 2024 - with another on the way! Outside of work, she enjoys spending days with her family and any time she can get outdoors.
