About Rob:

Rob is an experienced Artistic Director working internationally with world-class arts and entertainment companies such as Cirque du Soleil. As a creative (director, choreographer, movement director, acrobatic director), Rob has worked on over 30+ original productions spanning the genres of circus, commercial musicals, events, dance, outdoor & site-specific theatre, adverts, and film — offering a unique perspective into the diversity of the creative industries sector.

Originally trained in dance at QUT, Rob quickly migrated towards physical theatre as a way to create meaningful characters and stories both onstage and beyond. His ability to explore the human conditions sits at the intersection between movement, meaning and intention.

After 30 years working and touring abroad, Rob has returned to Brisbane via Montreal, Madrid and London to give back and reinvest in the next generation of creators.

re-Animated

Bringing animated characters to life through physical theatre.

Every physical body is beautifully complex and has the potential to tell a unique story, which can be translated into an animated character and vice versa.

Re-Animated is a 2-hour performance workshop through which participants will explore “character” through a series of guided physical theatre tasks and creative tools.

This is not a dance, but you do need to be prepared to move and inhabit your body with open curiosity. By enriching your characters from the outside-in (or inside-out), the beautiful complexity of the human condition can then be amplified, muted or suspended — depending upon the world you are animating.
