In this exclusive masterclass, directors of the upcoming Australian animated feature “SCARYGIRL” Ricard Cussó and Tania Vincent revisit their journey since the origins of the projects. From adaptation form the original graphic novel to completion of the project, they will give insights on their work as creatives, but also on how to overcome hurdles and find compromises to deliver a unique feature film.

About SCARYGIRL:
SCARYGIRL is a CG-animated feature film set for theatrical release across Australia on the 26th October 2023.

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel, we follow a young girl named Arkie who must overcome her fears and travel to a mysterious city of light, save her father from a dangerous scientist and prevent the destruction of her planet. 

The film is directed by Ricard Cussó and Tania Vincent and stars the incredible voice talents of Jillian Nguyen, Sam Neill, Tim Minchin, Anna Torv, Deborah Mailman and Remy Hii, to name a few. The film is produced by Highly Spirited Pictures, run by Sophie Byrne who won the Academy Award for Best Short Film for Shaun Tan's 'The Lost Thing' in 2010, and Like A Photon Creative, with Kristen Souvlis & Nadine Bates, and Ryan Greaves. Brisbane-based Cosmic Dino Studio provided full production & animation services for the film.
